In light of recent events related to COVID-19, APU has taken the following measures to support our students in this difficult time:
  • All classes are being held online for the entire semester. This is a temporary change until conditions are safe and secure for our students to return to our campus. As one of the best aspects about our university is its environment with students and staff from all different countries, we look forward to a time when we can welcome our students back to our physical campus.
  •  Our physical campus has been closed for the time being to ensure the safety of everyone involved with our school, but our staff can easily be reached by contact through Zoom, phone call, or email to helps support our students in any way possible.
  • Tuition and dormitory rent deadlines have been extended until our students return from overseas. As around half of our students are international, during our long vacations, many students travel or visit home. The multiple lockdowns across countries happened as our students were enjoying time with their families and so have been unable to return to our university. To help ease the financial burden, we have extended the time that they have to pay any fees in which we are involved.
  • For students without wifi in Japan, we have rented and allocated pocket wifi devices to ensure that our students can continue their education even if they do not have access to good wifi in their homes.
  • All students in our university will receive 30,000 JPY (270 USD) for up to three months to help support their daily lives. Additionally, students have the option to apply for more support if their families were heavily affected by the current situation.
  • Domestic scholarship recipients have been increased.
  • With the support of alumni, faculty and staff, and local businesses, APU is currently running a program to help distribute food to its students who need a helping hand.
  • For admissions, an additional application period was held for those who were unable to go through with their previous plans or were unable to prepare the necessary documents. Required documents were also given more flexibility in terms of deadlines.
  • Various other measures regarding financial support are currently being discussed, and further details will be released when decided.
