University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin)
is a UP campus located in Matina, Davao City
. It was established through the Republic Act No. 7889
, and it is the sixth constituent of the University of the Philippines System
out of eight (Los Baños, Diliman, Manila, Visayas, Baguio, Cebu and an Open University). Although established in 1995, providing UP education started in the early1960s through the UP Summer School
, which had available courses in Law, Business Administration, and Education.
UPMin offers undergraduate degree programs under three units: College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics,
and School of Management
. The School of Management provides the exclusive BS in Agribusiness Economics
program. Also available are diploma and graduate degrees
in Management, Urban and Regional Planning, and Exercise and Sports Science.
As one of the premier state universities built to provide quality education, UP Mindanao, with all the universities under the UP System, is covered by the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
In line with its mission of providing such education, the university had a groundbreaking ceremony in 2015 to build a new College of Human Kinetics
. Through this 20-hectare sports complex, training will be more accessible for student-athletes.
